![]() She also told me to call her if I realize that I need something fixed or something and she would definitely fix it for me. She began cutting again, and said that she realized that I probabaly won't be able to tell what the cut really looks like until I styled it myself. She saw how frizzy it was and acknowlegded it. It was pretty darn frizzy, but that's to be expected. ![]() She took me back to the chair and styled it with some Aveda products that probably had cones in them. She took me to the sink again and conditioned my hair. This time though, she started adding more layers by angling the scissors downward snipping individual curls shorter (which kinda contradicts what I said before about her not cutting indivdual curls haha). So anyways, she started cutting my hair again, using the same method as before. She really does try to cut your hair in the way that best for *your* hair, and will change her normal routine if it doesn't work for your hair. She said she would write a note to herself. She tried combing my hair for a bit and said, next time you come by remind me to cut your hair totally dry and not wet, because it would take way too long to comb out all your hair (my hair is pretty deceptive - it's actually not thick at all, but I just have tons of it). She asked if I normally comb my hair with a widetooth comb in the shower, and I said no, I normally use my fingers. She took me back to the chair and began combing my hair with a widetooth comb. So then she took me to the sink and shampooed my hair and dried it with a terrycloth towel. My dry hair didn't end up too frizzed by her first cuts, not anywhere near as big as Deva cuts made my hair. ![]() She said she was making a "map" on my dry hair to tell her where to cut when my hair would be wet. She reminded me of a sculptor, actually, which was a drastic and nice change from my previous haircut (I'm not bitter about that cut at all, can't you tell?). She definitely seemed very perceptive, like, it seemed like she seriously considered what she was doing, not just haphazardly chopping up my hair. Wheras during a Deva cut they literally cut each curl individually and make your hair gigantic, Claudia took small (like 2-inch) sections of my hair and cut them. She cut my hair interestingly - similar to the Deva method, but she kinda tweaked it a bit. :P) She asked if I used the Deva products, and I said no, I use Kinky-Curly but she probably hadn't heard of them, which she hadn't, but she said my felt good and healthy so that's good to know. (When she first told me she would cut dry, she kinda said it in a "don't freak out, but." tone, and I was like, dude, that's what I want! and she seemed a bit relieved. I told her that I had gotten a good haircut at the Deva salon in New York, where they had actually done the layers properly. We talked a little bit about the Deva method. So she started cutting my hair a bit, and she agreed that my hair was basically one length, except for some layers in the bottom layer in the back (huh I didn't know that), and my hair needed layers. Next, she said that she would start cutting my hair dry, then wash it and cut it wet, then wet it again (with conditioner I think, although I didn't ask), put product in it and dry it, then polish the cut a little more. She also asked me about the length, and I said I wanted to keep my hair as long as possible. I told her the not so great experience at my last haircut, and told her that this time I wanted actual layers. So Claudia sat me down in the chair, and asked me when I got my last haircut and what I wanted with this one. So now I'm going to recount my experience, which will probably be long and very rambly. Overall it went pretty well, and I'll probably go back, but I'm not sure yet for reasons I will explain later. So as you know, I went to the salon today and got my hair cut by Claudia.
